US coffee chain Starbucks is investing $100 million (€87.6 million) to establish a new Southeast corporate office in Nashville, Tennessee, creating up to 2,000 jobs over the next five years and consolidating operational functions closer to key suppliers and growth markets across the southeastern United States.
Invezz reported that the new office, located at the Peabody Union complex in downtown Nashville, will house a mix of newly created roles and relocated positions, with a particular focus on technology and sourcing teams. A temporary workspace is planned for May 2026, with the permanent facility scheduled for completion in 2027.
The Nashville hub will complement Starbucks' global headquarters in Seattle, where most support teams will remain, while directly supporting continued coffeehouse expansion and rising customer demand across the Southeast.
Sara Kelly, chief partner officer at Starbucks, said the move is driven by three key advantages: proximity to key suppliers, access to a deep and growing talent pool in the region notably in technology, and alignment with where the company expects future coffeehouse growth.
The office will span 250,000 square feet at the Peabody Union development on Nashville's South Bank, representing one of the most significant corporate real estate commitments in Tennessee in recent years.
Stuart C. McWhorter, Tennessee DECD commissioner, said the investment and creation of up to 2,000 new jobs underscores Tennessee's strength as a destination for high-quality corporate growth and reflects the meaningful, well-paying opportunities that will be available to the state's workforce.
The announcement builds on Starbucks' broader North America growth strategy released the previous month, reinforcing a wider industry shift toward operational decentralisation and cost-efficient geographic diversification for large-scale consumer operations.
