Enva has strengthened its Northern Ireland operations by acquiring waste management company Irish Waste and its subsidiary MacNabb Waste, taking 100% of the issued shares.
The acquisition spans three sites and covers the collection, treatment, recycling, and recovery of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
Roger McDermott, who became Enva CEO in September 2025, said: "We are delighted to welcome Irish Waste and MacNabb Waste into the Enva family. This partnership brings together organisations with shared values and a deep commitment to sustainability, compliance, service and technical excellence." He added: "Our collective strengths enable us to tackle increasingly complex waste challenges and deliver innovative, sustainable resource recovery solutions to meet the needs of our customers in Northern Ireland."
Irish Waste, headquartered in Belfast, has over 55 years of experience in industrial and commercial waste management, focusing on diverting waste from “environmentally irresponsible” disposal routes. MacNabb Waste, acquired by Irish Waste in 2021, operates a recycling facility in Downpatrick processing commercial, industrial, and construction waste.
Jason McPolin, Managing Director of Irish Waste, noted: "Bringing Irish Waste and MacNabb Waste together with Enva, creates a strong platform that will enable us to provide a broader range of services and solutions to customers, whilst ensuring continuity of our exceptional service." He added: "This acquisition provides the opportunity to ensure the continued growth and development of our people and the combined business."
The company has signalled that the move will support further investment in technologies aimed at maximising resource recovery and reducing environmental impact. This follows two acquisitions in Ireland in December 2024: Walshetown Restoration in Co Kildare and M&T Plant Hire in Co Wexford.
