Currys has reported higher annual profits following what it described as very solid trading performance across its UK, Ireland and Nordics operations. The results reflect improved operational execution across retail and business-to-business channels, supported by demand for consumer electronics, services and subscription-based offerings.
Irish News reported that the retailer posted a 4% increase in group like-for-like sales for the year to May 2, alongside an 18% rise in pre-tax profits to £191m (€222m). The performance exceeded previous guidance, which had forecast profits between £180m (€209m) and £190m (€221m), indicating stronger-than-expected operational delivery across key markets.
Currys said its UK business benefited from higher demand for services, business-to-business sales and new product categories, while its iD Mobile subscription base grew by 18%. In the Nordics, market share gains were driven by stronger performance in kitchen appliances and computing components, reflecting improved category management and operational responsiveness.
Departing chief executive Alex Baldock said the business “finished a good year well” following strong regional performance and noted that the group had not yet experienced disruption from wider geopolitical instability. He also highlighted the company’s hedged energy costs and strong balance sheet as supporting factors in maintaining operational stability.
From an operational excellence perspective, the results underscore the role of diversified revenue streams, subscription models and category optimisation in improving retail performance. The company’s ability to balance consumer retail demand with B2B growth continues to support margin resilience and efficiency across its operating model.
Currys indicated it remains positioned to manage market volatility while continuing to invest in growth opportunities and shareholder returns.
