Squarespace has announced an additional €70 million investment in Ireland, in partnership with IDA Ireland, to fund research and development underpinning its global platform. It matters because it directs new capital specifically into engineering-led product operations rather than headcount or premises alone, deepening the operational role Dublin already plays inside Squarespace's global structure.
Squarespace is a New York-headquartered platform helping entrepreneurs build, grow and run businesses online, providing websites, domains, e-commerce and marketing tools to small and medium-sized customers worldwide. It has operated from Squarespace House in Dublin since 2013.
The €70 million commitment builds on Squarespace's 2025 announcement of 120 additional Dublin jobs, extending a pattern of sequential investment rather than a single, isolated funding round.
Squarespace Ireland head Colm MacCarvill said: "Ireland has played an important role in Squarespace's growth for more than a decade, and this €70 million investment reflects our continued confidence in Ireland as a strategic location for our business."
IDA Ireland executive director Donal Travers said the investment reflects Squarespace's ongoing commitment to the country and its position as a strategic location for high-value engineering-led growth, adding that it aligns with IDA Ireland's own strategy to attract digital and AI innovation.
The funding is earmarked for product innovation and global expansion, including research and development initiatives intended to drive the continued evolution of the Squarespace platform, tying the Dublin site directly to core product development rather than support functions.
The announcement follows Klaviyo's own decision to open a Dublin office creating at least 100 jobs, adding to a run of US software companies expanding engineering-led operations in the city within the same period.
For the sector, directing fresh capital specifically at R&D rather than general headcount growth signals that established international tech operations in Ireland are increasingly trusted with core product engineering work, not just support and sales functions.
