St. Petersburg, Florida-based Raymond James Financial has launched a proprietary digital AI operations agent, Rai, as part of its long-term strategy to enhance operational excellence across the firm.
The platform uses natural language processing and generative AI to provide immediate, curated answers to operational questions and guidance from multiple firm knowledge bases. Rai also adapts over time based on user activity and preferences, delivering a tailored experience for each employee.
CEO Paul Shoukry stated that Rai reflects the firm’s commitment to applying artificial intelligence to secure, scalable service models that empower professionals and financial advisors, while maintaining the personal relationships central to Raymond James’ business.
Rai combines insights from across internal systems and policies to support informed decision-making while retaining full human-in-the-loop oversight. Following a successful pilot, the platform will roll out to specific business units, with enterprise-wide deployment planned over the coming quarters.
Chief AI Officer Stuart Feld highlighted that Rai is designed to provide bespoke experiences for individual users, forming the first phase of a broader integration of AI technologies to optimise processes across the firm. Feld noted that over 10,000 associates currently use conversational AI tools regularly, and that approximately 3.2 million lines of code are being generated each month under developer supervision.
Recent enhancements to Raymond James’ AI suite include: a CRM AI note assistant for optimised note-taking and activity tracking, Zoom AI meeting summaries integrated with CRM, generative AI search for internal knowledge databases, and secure access to ChatGPT Enterprise and Microsoft Copilot integration.
