Google was fined €2.95bn late last week for breaching antitrust regulations in the EU with its advertising technology (adtech) practices.
The European Commission found Google distorted competition by favouring its own adtech services. As a result, the tech giant harmed competing adtech providers, advertisers and online publishers.
Alongside the multibillion-euro fine, Google has also been ordered to end the “self-preferencing” practices and implement measures that end its “inherent conflicts of interest” in the adtech supply chain.
