Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland has committed €31m to install a new recycled plastic bottling line at its Knockmore Hill facility in Lisburn, Co Antrim. Scheduled to be operational by May 2026, the line will produce 500ml bottles at 65,000 units per hour and 36,000 two-litre bottles per hour, entirely from 100% recycled plastic excluding labels and caps.

This investment represents the largest single upgrade since the plant opened in 2008, building on over €77.6m invested in the site since 2020. A €3.5m warehouse addition in 2024 supported a new canning line for Monster Energy, further expanding production capacity. The facility currently employs 550 staff, part of Coca-Cola HBC’s 960-strong workforce across the island.

Simon Fitzpatrick, General Manager of Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland, highlighted the project’s role in driving manufacturing agility and operational excellence. By consolidating production capabilities and introducing advanced bottling technology, the facility aims to lead in supply chain efficiency, improving throughput while maintaining quality standards.

The expansion also aligns with broader sustainability goals, utilising fully recycled materials for bottle production and strengthening environmental stewardship within the manufacturing process. Beyond operational gains, the investment reinforces the company’s contribution to local economies, supporting small business suppliers and generating industry-wide growth.
