Amsterdam and Paris-headquartered Air France KLM Martinair Cargo (AFKLMP) is deploying artificial intelligence across multiple areas of its commercial operations to drive automation, efficiency, personalisation, and data-driven decision-making, as reported by Air Cargo News.
One of the most recent developments is the introduction of an AI-powered auto-fill feature within its myCargo digital self-service portal. The feature allows customers to copy shipment information from an email or other unstructured text source and paste it directly into the platform, with the AI engine automatically identifying, interpreting, and extracting relevant details including dimensions, weight, and number of pieces, then instantly populating the required booking fields.
By eliminating manual data entry, AFKLMP said customers can create bookings faster, reduce administrative effort, improve accuracy, and increase productivity.
In parallel, the company is rolling out an AI-powered auto-quote capability designed to automatically generate accurate spot quotations for customer requests received through myCargo or via email, with the aim of significantly reducing response times so customers can react faster to market opportunities.
GertJan Roelands, senior vice president commercial at AFKLMP, said: "AI will be one of the key accelerators of the next phase of our commercial transformation. We believe AI has the potential to fundamentally reshape how customers search, book, manage, and interact with air cargo services. The introduction of AI-powered capabilities such as Auto-Fill and Auto Quote demonstrates how technology can simplify complex processes, improve speed and accuracy, and create a more seamless customer experience. However, this is only the beginning. We see AI playing an increasingly important role across the entire customer journey, from personalized recommendations to predictive service and intelligent decision support. By combining advanced technology with the expertise of our people, we are building the next generation of customer experience in air cargo while creating greater value for both our customers and our business."
AFKLMP confirmed it is currently developing additional AI-driven solutions to be introduced over time as part of its ongoing commitment to innovation, customer centricity, and commercial excellence.
The auto-fill and auto-quote deployments reflect a broader trend among major air cargo carriers, who are increasingly applying AI at the transaction layer of their operations to reduce friction in the booking process and respond more competitively to spot market demand without increasing headcount.
