Aer Lingus posted an operating profit of €170m for the third quarter of 2025, up 22% from the same period last year. The increase reflects strong revenue performance and favourable fuel pricing, with cumulative operating profit for the year reaching €250m.

The airline, part of International Airlines Group (IAG), recorded a €31m improvement on Q3 2024, when adjusted for industrial action that affected over 500 flights. Operational efficiency gains were supported by a 6% overall capacity increase, including a 7% expansion on North American routes and 4% in Europe. Competitor capacity in summer 2025 grew by 13% on North American routes and 7% in Europe, highlighting Aer Lingus’s ability to maintain performance amid heightened competition.

Fleet developments contributed to operational flexibility. Aer Lingus added its fourth and fifth Airbus A321XLR aircraft, enabling new routes to Nashville, Indianapolis, and planned services to Raleigh-Durham in April 2026. Summer 2026 will see increased frequencies on key North American routes from Dublin and Shannon.

Ireland’s national airline also announced a partnership with Starlink, bringing high-speed Wi-Fi to the entire fleet. Implementation across Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Level, and Vueling aircraft is expected in early 2026.

CEO Lynne Embleton highlighted that operational focus on cost efficiency and productivity remains central as capacity grows across North American and European networks. Despite rising competition, the airline has maintained strong financial discipline while investing in network expansion and service improvements.

IAG’s overall quarterly revenue remained flat, with passenger revenue stable, cargo revenue declining, and other revenue increasing. Year-to-date, IAG’s operating profit rose 18%, and adjusted earnings per share grew 27%, building on a record 2024 when the group reported €4.4bn in annual operating profit.
