Swiss investment group SWI has secured a major US hyperscale customer for the first phase of its AiOnX data centre campus in County Kildare, strengthening Ireland’s position in AI infrastructure, hyperscale computing and operational capacity expansion. The development supports rising enterprise demand for cloud, AI and high-performance computing infrastructure across Europe.
Data Center Dynamics reported that the first phase of the Kildare Innovation Campus in Leixlip is nearing completion, with 16MW of immediate power capacity expected to commence operations in late 2026. SWI said the full 179MW campus has been leased to a major US hyperscaler, widely reported to be Amazon.
Simon Garing, CEO of Stoneweg EREIT Management Pte. Ltd, said during the company’s earnings call: “The first phase of the Dublin data center is about to complete with rentals for 16MW of immediate power commencing in late 2026. The entire 179MW is leased to a major US hyperscaler.”
The Kildare site was previously occupied by a manufacturing facility operated by HP before being acquired and redeveloped for data centre use. SWI, formed through the merger of Stoneweg and Icona Capital, manages approximately €11bn in assets and is expanding its European AI and hyperscale infrastructure portfolio.
The company said it has identified around 10 logistics and warehouse assets across four European countries suitable for conversion into data centre facilities. SWI is also pursuing high-performance computing expansion in the US through the planned acquisition of a bitcoin mining operator with 1.3GW of secured power connections.
