Identity security provider One Identity will become an independent company and establish its global headquarters in Cork, marking a strategic shift designed to sharpen its focus on identity governance and enterprise security. The move is significant for organisations pursuing operational excellence as identity management becomes increasingly central to managing complex digital environments.

ITPro reported that One Identity, previously part of Quest Software following its acquisition by Clearlake Capital in 2021, will operate independently throughout 2026. The company said the transition will enable greater investment and focus on identity governance and administration (IGA) and privileged access management (PAM), with the combined market estimated at US$10 billion (€8.5 billion).

The company said growing software as a service adoption, stricter regulatory requirements and the rapid expansion of both human and non-human identities are increasing demand for identity governance technologies. It also highlighted the impact of European regulations, including NIS2 and DORA, on customer demand for identity governance capabilities.

Chief executive Praerit Garg said: “Almost all security breaches can be traced back to identity compromises. Most organisations are still governing it with tools that were built for a different era. AI is accelerating the problem faster than most organisations realise: every agent and every automated workflow are identities that need to be governed.”

He added: “Operating as a standalone company gives us the focus this problem requires and the speed our customers demand.”

As part of the transition, Cork will become the company's global headquarters, reflecting the growing importance of its European operations. One Identity said more than 80% of its engineering organisation and several key leadership positions are already based across Ireland, the UK, Germany and the wider European region.

Cork office leader and director of global sales operations Brid Doyle said: “As a long-time regional office, Cork has been an important part of One Identity operations for many years. This decision reflects the reality of how the company operates today and how we believe we can best serve our customers all over the world.” The company also confirmed that additional transition milestones will be announced during 2026.
