An Post Commerce wins dual awards for Transport & Logistics and Public Sector at Operational Excellence Awards 2026

Revisiting this year's standout public sector performers, An Post Commerce secured the Operational Excellence in Transport & Logistics Award and the Operational Excellence in Public Sector Award at the Operational Excellence Awards 2026, distinguished for delivering sustained operational excellence across transport and logistics operations through deeply embedded lean culture, disciplined continuous improvement, and measurable national-scale impact.
The organisation demonstrated exceptional capability in translating Lean Six Sigma principles into sustained operational and financial performance across complex public sector logistics operations. By maintaining a 15-year structured continuous improvement programme, An Post Commerce built organisational capability spanning nearly 2,000 trained practitioners and 300+ completed Green Belt projects delivering cumulative savings of €32.5 million.
On transport and logistics excellence, judges noted: "This entrant delivered an exceptionally strong submission showcasing operational effectiveness in transport and logistics. The structured Lean Six Sigma programme, spanning 15 years, has trained nearly 2,000 people, completed 300+ Green Belt projects, and delivered cumulative savings of €32.5 million. The 2025 results alone, 27 projects, €2.3 million in savings, and significant reductions in manual processing costs and accidents, are well-documented and credible. The transformation from a letter to parcel business, alongside sustainability achievements and staff upskilling in AI and data analytics, highlights both innovation and measurable impact at a national scale."
On public sector excellence, judges commended: "This entrant showcased proficiency in the public sector through a deeply embedded lean culture. It highlights a consistent focus on continuous improvement and innovation, with budgetary and operational results that demonstrate real impact. Processes are streamlined, waste is reduced, and improvements are sustained as part of an ongoing strategic approach. Well-presented and evidence-rich, this entrant wowed our judging panel, reflecting strong commitment and tangible achievement in operational excellence."
